Indiana Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages
The Executive Board has spent the last few weeks monitoring the information coming out of the Indiana State Department of Health regarding COVID-19 and the Delta variant. We have also been listening to the concerns of our membership regarding in-person attendance at this year’s conference. As a result, the board has decided that this year’s conference will operate in a hybrid context; that is, some elements of the conference will remain in person and some elements will transition to a virtual platform.
Some notable changes to this year’s conference include:
1. Eliminating the group luncheon and business meeting in the middle of the conference
and moving the keynote speaker and business meeting to the morning.
2. Offering those presenters who are comfortable presenting IN PERSON the opportunity to do so in the MORNING.
3. Offering those presenters who would prefer to present VIRTUALLY the opportunity to do so in the AFTERNOON.
The board is currently working with an events specialist to make the transition from an all-in-person conference to a hybrid model. We ask for your continued patience regarding conference registration as we continue to negotiate these new dynamics.
Along with continued professional development and opportunities to network with colleagues, the health and safety of our membership continues to be INTESOL’s top priority. It’s time to consider amplifying your voice and publishing your work in the Indiana TESOL Journal (ITJ)! ITJ is a great venue for articles about academic research on language learning and related areas, as well as practitioner articles describing innovative and successful programs and pedagogies. Relevant book reviews are also welcomed.
Submissions are due on or before September 20th, 2021. Reviews will occur in September and October with expected online publication in November 2021.
The INTESOL JOURNAL (ITJ) is a professional journal published by the Indiana Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages (INTESOL). ITJ encourages the submission of previously unpublished articles on topics of significance to individuals concerned with the teaching of language. The journal accepts and publishes original articles primarily in the research and practice of the teaching of English to speakers of other languages, which include K-12, university, and adult ESL education settings. ITJ prefers that all submissions be written so that their content is accessible to a broad readership, including individuals who may not have familiarity with the subject matter addressed. We are excited to announce that the ITJ is published online and available more quickly than an in print publication.

Three years of hard work has finally paid off! The INTESOL ELL Collaboratives is excited to present its second white paper with the goal of drastically improving education for English Language Learners in Indiana.
