INTESOL Journal

The INTESOL JOURNAL (ITJ) is a professional journal published by the Indiana Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages (INTESOL). ITJ encourages the submission of previously unpublished articles on topics of significance to individuals concerned with the teaching of language.


INTESOL is proud to present the Indiana Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages Journal, Volume 14 (2017). The theme for this issue, as well as the 2017 INTESOL Conference, is Advocacy and Action in an Age of Uncertainty. Topics include English in Afghanistan, translingual practices, effects of assessment on writing discourse, social emotional learning, and the Every Student Succeeds Act. The cover of this issue features the artwork of Lin Latt of East Allen University in East Allen Schools in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Lin is the winner of the 2017 ELL K-12 Student Art Award.

Access the Indiana Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages Journal, Volume 13 (2016). The theme for this issue, as well as the 2016 INTESOL Conference, is Accessing Opportunities through Language. Topics include higher order thinking, motivators and demotivators, peer review activities, the effectiveness of first-year composition class, and vocabulary within reading comprehension. The cover of this issue features the artwork of Ariya Tastha from Thailand, submitted by art teacher, Deb Singleton from Adams Central High School, Adams Central Community Schools, Monroe, Indiana. Ariya is the winner of the 2016 ELL K-12 Student Art Award.
